Author name: Julia Hunckler

I am a graduate from Ave Maria University with a major in Biology and a minor in Marine Biology. I have experience in both independent field research and laboratory research. Recent research has included analytical biochemistry, converting unsaturated bonds to cyclopropyl groups, simmons-smith cyclopropanation, thermo executive mass spectrometry, gas chromatography (flame ionization detection), and antibiotic phylogenetics of bioluminescent marine bacteria. I am currently attending Hawaiʻi Pacific University for graduate school to continue to pursue my studies in Marine Microbiology where I am researching the microbial metabolic pathways of thermophilic microorganisms and viral host systems (via virus induction) from the eastern flank of the Juan de Fuca Ridge and the Mid-Cayman hydrothermal vent fields.
